ECOVAL CONAMA

The Natural Heritage Foundation of Castille and León (FPNCYL), presented the ECOVAL Sudoe project at the 15th edition of CONAMA, the National Environmental Congress that was held at the IFEMA fairgrounds in Madrid from May 31 to June 3 under the slogan “The recovery we want.”

Specifically, the project was presented on June 1, when the FPNCYL stand at the congress focussed on the Ecoval project, an acronym for “Management coordination strategies and recovery of sludge and organic waste in the SUDOE region.”

Attendees were able to learn about the different activities that the project, financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Interreg Sudoe 2014-2020 program, will implement until 2023 with the aim of improving the management of urban organic waste. These activities aim to reduce the impact that urban waste management has on the environment as well as to boost the circular economy thanks to the conversion of waste into resources.

The project will promote the biofactory model, replicable throughout the European Union, to obtain bio-products with high added value from sewage sludge and urban bio-waste.

Participation in this event has allowed interaction with other projects on similar topics; projects that also seek forms of change that bring us closer to a more sustainable world.
